NAMI of Greater Chicago provides information and referrals for mental illnesses and treatment via our HELPLINE at (312) 563-0445,as well as support for those affected, their families, friends, and the community. We offer educational courses for family members and consumers of mental health services and regular self-help support group meetings for families and for consumers. We provide educational programs for mental health professionals and students, and for law enforcement personnel as well as community entities. We produce fact sheets on a variety of mental health issues, advocate for public policies and legislation that promote the well-being of persons living with mental illness, and encourage research to improve the available treatments for mental illness. The mission of NAMI of Greater Chicago is to provide hope and improve the quality of life for those in the greater Chicago area whose lives are affected by serious mental illness |
